Sunflower House

June 22 2 - 4pm Children ages 8 -14
Come to the Hamilton Children's Garden and help plant a sunflower house for our garden, and learn about participating in the Great Sunflower Project of the University of California at San Francisco (UCSD). We will also plant seeds, make plants from cuttings and divisions to take home for your own garden. Bring your own gloves and wear gardening clothes.

Advanced Rock Painting Children Ages 8-14
Reptiles: Monday July 13, 2pm - 4pm or Mammals: Monday July 27, 2pm - 4pm

This is not your average painted rock with a dab of paint here and there. This class is for the student artist ages 8-14 who is looking for a challenge. Make lizards, snakes or turtles in the reptile class and deer, coyote, or rabbits in the mammal session.

"Quail at Quail Botanical Gardens"

We will study the life cycle of the State bird and make observations of real quail in the Quail Haven of the Hamilton Children's Garden. Each child will receive an art poster of California quail and then will make a pastel chalk drawing of quail. Our featured artist is John James Audubon.
Cost: Members $20/child; Nonmembers $25/child.
Fairy Picnic: Making Miniatures
Monday August 3, 2009 2pm-4pm Children ages 8 -11

Get ready for the Fairy Festival by making miniatures. 8-11 year olds will decorate and line a picnic basket and make food from Sculpey to spread out on a miniature picnic cloth. A swing set, sand box and sliding board from natural materials for a fairy playground completes the ensemble.

Garden Art Safari Camp
For Ages 6 - 9 Quail Botanical Gardens is offering Abrakadoodle Art Camps
Spend the morning outside! Experience the beauty of Quail Botanical Gardens and connect with nature through art! Each day we learn about famous artists and art techniques. We’ll create paintings, drawing, sculptures and lots of other multi-media artwork inspired by our daily safaris throughout the Gardens. Children should wear clothes designed for play and bring along water and a snack.
Monday through Thursday, 9.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. Camp weeks: June 29 – July 2, July 6 – 9, August 3 – 6, or August 10 – 13 (lessons repeat each week).
